Mastery and Skills in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ubisoft has unveiled a new skill system for AC Shadows, based on two aspects: Mastery and Knowledge. Instead of the usual ancient skills, it will be possible to combine abilities, as well as redistribute them at any time.

How does the Mastery and Knowledge system work?

• Mastery – points that the character will receive for performing key game actions: killing important targets, completing missions, winning battles. They can be spent to unlock new skills and abilities.
• Knowledge – points that are earned not through combat, but through exploring the world. They can be obtained by visiting temples, performing meditations, and studying ancient manuscripts. They open access to new categories of skills.

Such a pumping system supports two play styles – samurai for Yasuke and shinobi for Naue.

Ubisoft also implemented a free respawn system. That is, you can completely reallocate your Mastery points at any time and use them for other skills.

Naoe and Yasuke’s Upgrade

Naoe is a master of stealth assassination and parkour. Her abilities allow her to use double kills, move across rooftops with a cat hook, boost aerial kills, and increase damage from behind attacks. She also gains improved camouflage at night. She will be weaker than Yasuke in open combat, but the ability to develop combat skills for this character is also present.

Yasuke is a warrior who specializes in melee combat. His abilities include armor and health boosts, accelerated adrenaline, the ability to parry non-standard attacks, a bonus to damage after a successful parry, and the ability to ignore knockback when attacking. He’s strong in fights, but his stealth skill will never be as skilful as Nahue’s.

How do I unlock the final skills?

The most powerful abilities require special conditions to be met. Unlocking the final skills in the Skill tree will require reaching a certain level of Knowledge by exploring the world, spending more Skill points, and destroying special groups of enemies. For example, to unlock the maximum stealth kill pump, you must eliminate all of the main shinobi in the game.

How does the system of equipment and rare skills work?

The loot system with different levels of rarity of items deserves special attention. Legendary weapons and armor have unique abilities. Some items enhance aerial kills, give a bonus to stealth at night or allow you to parry particularly powerful blows. There are also regular items – they don’t have special abilities, but some of them can also have great features.

But let’s get back to the legendary weapon. It has another feature to change gameplay. For example, a special naginata allows you to parry attacks that cannot be blocked with normal weapons.Endgame and character development after the main campaign

Even after fully pumping all skills, players can continue to develop the character. After the maximum level, a new Knowledge Tree system opens up, allowing you to improve the speed of attacks and movements, the duration of stealth, the amount of resources received and the strength of critical hits.
